TPO is a blend of ethylene-propylene (EP) synthetic rubber and polypropylene. It’s heat-weldable (unlike EPDM) and comes in bright white, light gray, or tan, colors chosen for their ability to reflect sunlight and lower cooling costs.
Most TPO systems come in 45, 60, or 80 mil thicknesses and can be installed mechanically, fully adhered, or using the RhinoBond® system. The RhinoBond® system uses induction welding to bond the membrane to special fastener plates, eliminating the need for adhesives, an advantage in cold-weather installs when glues are less effective.
